Meta Interns FAQ's and Policy

Synergy Global Housing is Meta's preferred housing accommodation provider. 

 

Overview

Interns will be housed in furnished housing accommodation at a Meta approved community. Meta will be responsible for the cost of your rent, furnishings, utilities (electricity, water, gas, sewer, and garbage removal), high speed internet, local telephone service, TV, basic cable, bi-weekly housekeeping and other applicable fees.  For general questions that are not addressed on this site, please email meta@synergyhousing.com.

Top Things to Know

  1. You will be allowed up to 2 flex nights both prior to and after your internship program dates for moving in and out of housing accommodation.
  2. Please be aware that many locations have high amounts of traffic and commute times can vary and may be extensive,
  3. Due to COVID 19, services may be impacted and/or interrupted due to local protocols.

Your Housing Accommodation and Amenities

What does my housing accommodation include?

  • Your housing accommodation includes everything you need in your home away from home
  • Furnished housing accommodation with complete housewares
  • Living room, bathroom and Equipped kitchen
  • Utilities are included and hooked-up prior to move-in, such as local telephone service, high speed internet, TV and basic cable
  • Bi-weekly (every other week) housekeeping services
  • Coin or Card operated laundry facilities on-site for personal laundry
  • Dedicated 24/7/365 Customer Service Representatives for all service issues
  • Property amenities may include outdoor pool, spa, sauna, gym, BBQ areas, tennis courts, basketball courts, and business center

Will my housing accommodation have air conditioning?

The housing accommodation are not air-conditioned as most internships are in mild weather locations with a minimal number of days with higher than average temperatures, however, you will have access to individual fans in your housing accommodation for your convenience and comfort.


What does housekeeping include?

  • A bi-weekly "tidy up" service is provided for each housing accommodation and includes the following duties with each visit:
  • Make bed(s)
  • Vacuum carpets and/or mop floors
  • Clean sinks and countertops
  • Dust furniture and accessories
  • Clean exterior surfaces of refrigerator and stove
  • Clean exterior and interior of microwave
  • Clean mirrors
  • Clean bathroom(s)
  • Remove trash
  • Towel and sheet exchange

What is not included in my furnished housing accommodation?

  • Long distance telephone charges
  • Any premium cable channels you elect to subscribe to
  • Any other upgraded amenities that are not provided as part of the standard housing accommodation rental agreement or deemed to be necessary utilities

For these additional expenses, Synergy can simply charge the credit card that you provide for incidentals and damages. Rest assured, you will only be charged for any expenses actually incurred. 


Are all the utilities paid for?

Monthly rent paid by Meta includes utilities such as electricity, water, gas, sewer, garbage removal, high-speed internet, local telephone service, TV, and basic cable. 


If I’m assigned a shared housing accommodation, will I have my own bathroom?

Shared housing accommodation have two bedrooms and one bathroom. Each person will have their own bedroom.


Making Reservations

Do I need to buy renter’s insurance?

No, renters insurance is automatically included on your reservation. However, high-value items which include jewelry, fine art, camera and equipment, furs, computers and tablets, oriental rugs, musical instruments, and coin collections are only covered up to $5,000. Should you have items that exceed this amount, we encourage you to have separate personal insurance coverage for those items.

 

When will I know my address?

If you will be assigned a housing accommodation, you will be notified no later than 4 weeks prior to your internship start date. Your Synergy Housing Accommodation and Roommate(s), if applicable, will be assigned no less than 14 days prior to your program start date. Your Synergy Representative will e-mail you the name and address of the housing accommodation, as well as your roommate's name and contact information. Your housing accommodation number, detailed arrival instructions, and where to collect your keys at the property will be e-mailed to you three business days prior to your move-in date. Please note that numerous properties are utilized throughout metro areas to accommodate Meta interns headed to Meta campuses. Your housing accommodation will be no farther than 25 miles / 40 kilometers to your office location.  Below you will find maps outlining areas used for housing accommodation where there is high intern density.

Do I need to sign a lease agreement?

No, Meta has guaranteed your housing accommodation.

 

May I see my housing accommodation prior to move in?

No, there are no pictures to view. If you have any questions about what is included with your housing accommodation, please see the Furnishings List. Should you have any further questions, please contact us at meta@synergyhousing.com.


Are smoking housing accommodation available?

No. Smoking is not permitted in Meta intern housing accommodation.


Can I bring a pet?

No pets are permitted, with the exception of documented service animals. Guests are financially responsible for non-refundable pet deposits, cleaning fees, and damages. 


To avoid movement/disruption in housing accommodation, please inform your Altair representative of any service animal prior to confirming housing accommodation. 

About Your Stay

How do I make changes to my housing accommodation reservation?

Adjustments to reservations due to changes with your internship program must be approved. Please contact your Altair consultant immediately. For personal changes to your arrival or departure dates, please contact us at meta@synergyhousing.com. You will be responsible for the rent for nights stayed outside of the Meta policy. 


How long do I have before and after my internship to move?

Meta's policy provides a grace period of up to 2 flex nights prior and 2 flex nights following your program dates, if needed, for the purpose of moving in and out of housing accommodation. For example:


If your work start date is January 16, then you would be eligible for housing accommodation for the nights of January 14th and 15th, checking in after 4pm on the 14th. If your work end date is March 24, then you would be eligible for housing accommodation for the nights of March 25th and 26th, departing by 11am on the 27th .


If you require more time after your requested housing dates, you may extend your stay at your own expense, if your assigned housing accommodation is available. Please contact us at meta@synergyhousing.com for rates.


The Housing Accommodation Survey asks for an end date. How do I know what this is?

Your internship end date is provided in your offer letter from Meta. Once you have entered your end date on the Housing Accommodation Survey this date is considered FINAL. Should an internship extension occur, please notify your primary Altair consultant at your earliest convenience. Housing extensions will be most efficiently accommodated if your housing is available. To best accommodate your extension, and continue living in the same housing accommodation, please contact your Altair consultant as soon as possible.


What if I want to arrive earlier or stay longer than the Meta policy allows?

If the housing accommodation is available, you are allowed to arrive as early, or extend your stay for as long as you like at your own expense. You will be responsible for the rent for nights stayed outside of the Meta policy. Please coordinate any early arrivals or late departures at meta@synergyhousing.com.


Can I sublet my housing accommodation if I find alternative housing accommodation arrangements?

No. The lease agreement for your Meta funded housing accommodation does not allow for any person to sublet or rent to another party.


What are the Check-In and Check-Out times?

Check-in time on your arrival date is after 4:00 pm. We have the ability to handle a late/after-hours check-in at all of our intern housing accommodation locations. Check-out time will vary by global location and advised by Synergy’s local team.


Can I ship packages to my housing accommodation that may arrive before I do?

We do not have the ability to accept and store packages, so we do not advise that you ship items to arrive prior to your check-in date, as the delivery may be turned away.

Staying in Your Housing Accommodation

House Rules:

  1. As a tenant, you must comply with the rules of the housing community.
  2. Always act with integrity & professionalism as your behavior is a reflection of Meta.
  3. You are responsible for any property or unit damages due to negligence in maintaining the unit.
  4. No pets are permitted, with the exception of documented service animals.
  5. Treat the housekeeping and property staff with respect and professionalism.
  6. Roommate approval is required for overnight guest stays. No guest can stay longer than 48 hours.
  7. No illegal substances or weapons on the premises.
  8. No smoking in your unit or the interior of the buildings. The property may have designated smoking areas, please confirm with the property management/front desk. 
  9. Please keep the noise level down. Be conscious of your neighbors and remember this is Meta property when having a party or people over.

Am I responsible for damages that occur in the housing accommodation?

Yes, you are responsible for maintaining your housing accommodation in good condition.  Interns sharing housing accommodation are responsible for maintaining the housing accommodation and keeping it in good condition. Should the housing accommodation be left in excessively dirty condition upon departure, each intern living in the housing accommodation will be held equally liable for excessive cleaning charges and will therefore be equally charged. Each reservation includes renter’s insurance to cover damages, with a $150 deductible which will be split between each intern in the housing accommodation in the event damages occur.


Can I have guests?

Yes, provided your guest does not stay more than 48 hours.  If you are in shared housing accommodation,  your roommate must provide prior approval. If your roommate does not approve, no guests can spend the night. Housing accommodations are not intended to be permanent housing accommodations for guests and non-eligible friends and family.


Who do I contact if I have a service issue during my stay?

Please contact the Synergy Service Center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year for any service issues or questions you may have about your housing accommodation.
